About Us

The scholarship is the brainchild of Yanique DaCosta, a formally
educated fine artist, and owner of the Graphic Design studio YKMD.
Having been a recipient of scholarships herself after migrating to the
United States for higher studies, she recognizes the importance of
financial support in the arts.

She attributes her passion for art to her inspiring teachers at Holy
Childhood Preparatory School and St. Andrew High School for Girls.

DaCosta asserts, “Without supportive educators and
the financial means to dictate my educational
journey, I would not have become the accomplished
creative professional I am today.”
The cost of tuition can be a significant barrier for many
talented students.
The average cost of tuition in Jamaica as of 2023 is

USD$350

per year/student

for Secondary Institutions

USD$6500

per year/student

for Tertiary Institutions

Help us break down these barriers.
